Phillips School of Theology, founded in 1944, is the only seminary of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Dr. Joseph A. Johnson, Jr. became the school’s first president and served until 1954. Four years later, Phillips School of Theology became a founding member of ITC. The mission of Phillips School of Theology is to prepare men and women for excellency in ministry for the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and the world. The vision that is realized each year are leaders departing ITC equipped to work in many capacities religious capacities. Graduates serve across the spectrum of ecumenism as ministers (lay and clergy), higher education, church administration and leadership, evangelism, pastoral counseling and professional development.
